Old Newsboys
For over 100 years, children in the Greater Lansing area have received the gift of essential footwear thanks to a community-driven effort that began in 1910 with the Palmer Shoe Fund. In 1924, this mission was expanded with the creation of the Old Newsboys, an organization dedicated to ensuring kids have the shoes they need—whether it’s sneakers, cleats, snow boots, or dress shoes. Entirely volunteer-run, 100% of donations go directly to helping children, funded largely through the sale of their iconic spoof newspaper. It’s a tradition of care that continues to make a difference, one step at a time!

Capital Area Humane Society
Since 1936, the Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) has been dedicated to giving companion animals a second chance and a brighter future. Between 2022 and 2023, over 7,000 pets found loving homes through their efforts. CAHS provides not just adoption and rescue services but also spay/neuter programs, fostering opportunities, and support for reuniting lost pets with their families. Every donation goes to helping animals in need—because every pet deserves love, care, and a forever home.
